No doubt, Popcorn Time is a great invention in its own right, however, it’s still
currently lacks the basic functionality of streaming TV-series and shows straight to the user’s end.
[Update: Current release of PT has TV-shows streaming built-in, yet it doesn’t allow multiple file selection of subtitles for example, as XBMC does.]
That is exactly the reason why I’d like you to meet a little extension called XBMCtorrent which is based upon the same technology as PT, i.e. it’s based on torrents (as its name suggests), yet it is also capable of streaming shows and series straight to you, right out of the box.
Of course, in order to use that add-on you’ll need to first install XBMC and download XBMCtorrent extension, both can be downloaded through the following links:
How to install XBMCtorrent?
Open up XBMC and navigate using your mouse / keyboard to SYSTEM > Settings > Add-ons > Install from zip file. From here you’ll be able to navigate your way to the zip file you’ve downloaded earlier (plugin.video.xbmctorrent-0.6.4) and choose it for installation.
Furthermore, in case you weren’t aware of the fact, by using XBMC you also gain direct access to global subtitles websites, and the way to enable that is by going again into … Add-ons, from here navigate to Get Add-ons > All Add-ons > Subtitles > click to enable XBMC Subtitles. Done.
Finally, here’s a video made by XBMCtorrent’s creator which demonstrate its abilities. Enjoy!
